Chicago Mayor Lightfoot Caught Lying a Second Time about Chicago's Murder Solve Rate

Chicago, IL (November 18, 2021) - On Wednesday, Chicago Mayor Lightfoot lied for a SECOND TIME about Chicago's murder clearance rate. During a press conference, she claimed the murder clearance rate is at 45%. Based on City of Chicago data of murders committed in 2021, only 18% of cases have been solved - the worst in the nation. This isn't the first time Lightfoot has lied on this issue.

Mayor Lightfoot was caught in her first lie about Chicago's murder solve rate last month after another nasty exchange with Chicago reporter William J. Kelly whose interviews of Lightfoot have gone viral. A fews ago, an angry Lightfoot lashed out at Kelly, claiming he was using hyperbolic and extremist rhetoric and falsely claimed that Chicago's murder clearance rate was up. A link to the video is here.

This isn't the first time Lightfoot's anger has gotten the best of her. At an October 28th press conference, a "maskless" Mayor Lightfoot attacked Kelly for not wearing a mask to ask her a question and called a Chicago poll that said a majority of Chicagoans don't want her to run for reelection "racist."

In June, Kelly asked Mayor Lightfoot if she had lost control of the city. She angrily dismissed his comments and said that crime was down. The video of the heated encounter has since received more than 1.5 million views and more than 35,000 comments - most of them critical of Mayor Lightfoot.

Kelly's second video with Mayor Lightfoot also went viral when she denied that the George Floyd riots had anything to do with race. The video has also received more than 734K views and 19,000 comments.
