CITIZEN KELLY: Mayor Lightfoot uses race smokescreen to avoid talking about Chicago's murder rate

CHICAGO (May 25, 2021)- William J. Kelly, host of the "Citizen Kelly Show" says that Chicago Mayor Lightfoot's embargo on white reporters is just a smokescreen- she just really doesn't want to talk about Chicago's murder rate:

"Shootings are up 36% in Chicago over last year. But Mayor Lightfoot doesn’t want to talk about it. I mean, she doesn’t want to talk to white reporters about it," Kelly said "That’s what she said in her official two-page racial justice manifesto last week. She said she will only be granting interviews to black and brown reporters. No white reporters need apply."

Yet Lightfoot doesn’t seem at all offended by the 55 shootings and 12 murders this weekend. Including the death of a 15-year-old African American boy. To date in 2021, more than 1367 people have been shot and 254 murdered in Chicago. And most of them are black.

But, Kelly says that Mayor Lightfoot just doesn’t want to talk about it. When does Mayor Lightfoot want to talk about it, Kelly asks. In two more years when she is up for re-election?

"I remember the good old days when at least Mayor Rahm Emanuel had the decency not to answer my questions about Chicago’s murder rate in person," Kelly says.
