CITIZEN KELLY: Rapper-turned Chicago Council Rep wants to remove "man" from Alderman
CHICAGO (March 30, 2021) - William J. Kelly, host of the "Citizen Kelly Show" says that a new Chicago City Council resolution looks like an R-rated version of the battle rap TV series, "Drop the Mic":
"There’s a brand new bill in the City Council to change the title of Chicago ward reps from alderman to just alder. It’s a gender equality term proposed by bad-boy battle rapper turned-Alderman Andre Vasquez. Ooops, I meant Alder," Kelly said.
Kelly says that Vasquez, who performed under the hip-hop name Prime in the1990s and 200s, was known for his hateful homophobic and misogynistic lyrics, including lyrics like "holdin’ mics with a slight buzz. Beatin’ bitches like Ike does."
But now he’s supposedly reformed and trying to give back to the community. By changing the word alderman to alder. And removing man from alderman.
"Because men are bad?" Kelly questions. "But why stop at alder-man? Why not remove the word man from wom-an? And just refer to women as wom? I’m sure socialist Alderman Andre Vasquez would find THAT highly offensive."
Kelly is an outspoken critic of Governor Pritzker and Mayor Lightfoot. For updates, please visit www.williamjkelly.org
